Is this normal behavior? I was expecting a problem to manifest itself as graphical errors, not a slowdown. Instead of seeing a FPS increase and artifacts, the FPS dropped by half with no visual errors. Then I went after the core and shader clocks which I still have linked. I first went after the memory clocks, and that overclocked great and I was able to max out the adjustment bar to 2340 without any artifacts and with consistent FPS increases in the heaven benchmark. I am getting some weird behavior while overclocking.

Am I using it wrong? What is the best way to test new clock speeds? Is there a better program out there? And what is up with that shader adjustment? And to top it off it doesn't seem to want to let me adjust the core voltage, as the slider is greyed out and I cant seem to unlock it. I also see that its got a new slider I have never seen before that lets me overclock the shader clock separate from the core and memory. Much worse than that though is that I cant seem to locate any testing feature for determining if the new speeds are stable. I don't much mind that, but it seems like it would be a basic feature in 2011. First there is no auto-overclocking option.

Now that I have my new cpu, I went on to the next step and downloaded MSI afterburner, which appears to be the appropriate overclocking program for this card, but I don't much like what I see now that I am staring at it. Until then I want to get the most out of it. Its a hold-me-over card, and I will probably replace it in about 1.5 to 2 years. I have been waiting until I get my new processor to overclock my relatively new video card.
